1960년 경북 김천에서 태어나 국립안동대학교 미술학과와 계명대학교 미술대학원에서 회화를 전공했다.
저서는 에세이집 [그린 꽃은 시들지 않는다]가 있다. 갤러리 고도, 갤러리 전, 동원화랑, 맥향화랑, 수성아트피아 등에서 16회의 초대개인전을 가졌고, KIAF, SOAF, BAMA 등 아트페어 참가 18회, 터키, 상해, 상트페테르부르크, 센다이, 서울, 광주, 제주 등
국내외 단체초대전 200여 회를 가졌고, 혜민 스님의 [멈추면, 비로소 보이는 것들]과 법륜 스 님의 [날마다 웃는 집] 표지 및 본문 그림을 그렸다. 우리가 살아가며 점점 잃어가는 작고 소중한 꿈, 희망, 사랑, 우정, 웃음, 그리움들을 동화처럼 되살려 고단한 삶에 힐링을 주는 그림을 주로 그리고 있다. 경북대학교병원, 경북대학교치의과대학원, 쌤앤파커스, 안국선원, 경주시, 대구은행본점, 한국산업단지공단, 산하종합조경, 호텔피오레 등에 작품이 소장되어 있다.
