LUNACY 앨범은 일본의 록 밴드 LUNA SEA의 7번째 오리지널 앨범이자 종막 전 오리지널 앨범으로는 마지막 작품이다. 
종막 이전에 있어서는 오리지날 앨범으로서는 마지막 작품이 되어, 이번 작품 릴리스시의 인터뷰에서 INORAN은 "언제든지 시작이고, 지금, 끝나도 좋다.
라스트 앨범으로 해도 좋을 정도의 성과"라고 말하고 있었다.
SUGIZO 의 제안에 따른 기간 동안 무기한 레코딩으로 제작되었으며, 결과적으로 1999년 여름부터 제작기간 1년이라는 LUNA SEA의 앨범 중 가장 많은 시간을 들여 만들어진 작품이다.
