신형원은 자신의 공식 데뷔곡인 한돌의 창작곡 <불씨>와 <유리벽> 2곡을 발표했다. 음반 발표 이후 즉각적으로 히트되지는 않았지만 다운타운 DJ들에게 신형원의 신곡들은 즐겨 선곡되었다. 조금씩 입소문을 타면서 젊은 세대들 사이에서 애청되기 시작했다. 노래 2곡이 거의 동시에 다운타운가와 라디오 전파를 타고 흘러나오는 뜨거운 반응에도 불구하고 정작 가수의 모습을 볼 수가 없었다. 일절 방송출연을 하지 않아 당시 언론에서는 ‘얼굴 없는 가수’로 신형원을 소개하기 시작했다.
